Action Man Jungle Survival Kit Activity Center
Action Man Jungle Survival Kit Review

Code Red Alert!  Code Red Alert!  Give this mission top priority, Action Man!  Headquarters has just received word that strange, evil things are happening in the jungle and it is up to you to investigate immediately!  Be on the lookout for Dr. X, public enemy number one, and his evil minions!  We are counting on you to stop him!

You will be transported and dropped off via Stealth Jet in the targeted area.  You will be provided with a Jungle Survival Kit and left to your own devices.  This is a highly dangerous mission, Action Man.  Proceed with extreme caution...and Good Luck!

Your Jungle Survival Kit contains everything you will need to complete this perilous mission, Action Man.  Take the time to familiarize yourself with its 6 main functions.

Exploration Equipment:  Here is where you will find stored all the tools, disguises and assortment of other items you will find useful while exploring.  Remember that some equipment will only become available after completing certain missions.

Map-Making Tools:  You'll find these in your Action Studio.  They are useful for planning your mission path, enemy sites, dangerous animals and local allies.

Laptop Computer:  This top-of-the-art personal computer is used for creating and decrypting codes.

Espionage Scene Creator:  This print studio will allow you to secretly document your findings and draw diagrams of your secret operations.

Secret Folder:  This folder contains your most valued possessions:  Your Action Man Gold Card, a photo of Raid (your loyal dog), different types of foreign currency, and your Secret Papers.  You can also use this hidden file to save all the documents you create.

Top Secret Missions File:  There are 6 secret missions for you to complete.  Access each mission with the number pad.  This dossier will update you on your next task so return here often.

Study all this material carefully, Action Man.  Your survival will depend on your ability to use these special features and controls.  We are counting on you, Action Man.  Don't let us down!  Over and out!

Please Note:  This Hasbro Interactive software contains lots of really cool items to print and make including:  Masks, mobiles, paper animals, outfits for both Action Man and the player, top secret documents, ID tags, badges, door banners, maps, tropical scenes and playsets.

Additional items you will need to make these items include cards/cereal packets (any heavy cardboard or poster board will work as well), glue, scissors, sticky back tape, elastic bands, string, paper clips, cardboard tubes, pasta tubes/drinking straws, magnets, clothes pins, and coat hangers.

All the items are easy and fun to make following the simple pictorial instructions included on the software.  The finished items are ideal for younger kids ages 4 and up to play with, but they will need the help of an older child or adult to make the items.

Minimum System Requirements include:  Windows 96/98, Pentium 166MHz or higher, 16MB RAM, 2D Video card capable of 640x480 resolution in High Color, 4X CD-ROM, 100MB Hard Disk Space, 100% DirectX compatible sound card, mouse and color printer.

Installation is quick and easy with no diversions.

Gameplay:  8.0.  Movement selections are made with the mouse and are, for the most part, quite smooth.

Graphics:  7.5.  Both the animated clips and the items graphics are fairly good.

Sound:  6.5.  The tutorial voice is very good, but I detected a lack of sound quality during the clips.

Difficulty:  7.5.  Using the software is quite simple requiring only mouse clicks that a younger child could manage alone, but I am sure printing and making the items available on the software will require help from an older child (perhaps 10 or over) or an adult.

Concept:  8.5.  Action Man--Jungle Survival Kit Activity Center compliments the current popularity of the Action Man TV Series and will certainly capture the interest of anyone who likes Action Man.

Overall:  7.5.  I believe this software would be excellent for a sharing experience between children and older siblings or parents when making the items available.  Playing with the finished items encourages imagination and the concept of good prevailing over evil.  There is a violence aspect to be considered, however, that is best left to the discretion of the adults.
