Look who is here! It's Barney,
BJ, and Baby Bop! They are here to show you all the fun places you
can visit around their town! Let's join them for a walk and see what
there is to do, ok?
In Barney on Location: All Around
Town you will see the town map when you first start playing. There
are four different places you can visit in town: The Fire Station,
The Bakery, The Park, and the Print Shop. There are lots of fun things
to do in each location and each one also has hidden surprise you can find
by moving your mouse around the screen. Be sure to look for the special
"Golden Treasure" hidden in each location, too!
When you visit the Fire Station, you
can play Fire Station Hide and Seek, Fire Drill, Fire Truck Puzzle, Firefighter
Dress Up or Fire Station Sing-Along. All of these activities are
lots of fun so just click on one to begin playing. The first time
you play, each game will be pretty easy but when you play that game again,
it will be harder.
I know you will love visiting the Bakery!
There are so many things to do there! You can play Toast Catch, Mystery
Recipes, Baker's Dozen, Icing on the Cake and The Bakery Sing-Along.
Doesn't The Bakery smell yummy? Remember to look for all the hidden
surprises here, too!
Visiting the Park is so much fun!
You can choose Play Ball!, Flutter by Butterfly, Lily Pad Pair Up, Sandcastle
Maker, and Park Sing-Along! Just move your mouse over the screen
to choose which game you want to play!
Ooooo, just look at all the terrific
things you can make in the Print Shop! There are pictures to color,
dots to connect and hats to make! I know you will want to print out
all these fun activity pages to do yourself or share with your friends!
Exploring the town has never been so
much fun! I hope you will be able to visit soon! Barney,
BJ and Baby Bop are waiting for you to join them on their walk!
Note to Adults: Hasbro
Interactive has designed Barney on Location: All Around Town so that
it will grow with your child. The level of each activity increases
each time the child plays so this software will continually present a fun
challenge. There are two exceptions you should note: Play Ball
(found in The Park) and Toast Catch (found in the Bakery) both start on
Level 2 and then level up or down depending on how well the child does.
This software is rated EC for Early
Childhood and is geared for children ages 3 and up.
Minimum System Requirements include:
Windows 95/98, Pentium 166MHz or higher, 32MB RAM, 60MB Free Hard Drive
Space, 8X CD-ROM, 2MB Windows compatible SVGA video card, Windows compatible
sound card, DirectX 7.0a or higher (included on CD) and mouse.
Install: Easy
Very easy to install.
Gameplay: 9.5.
The
gameplay is quite smooth as is movement from screen to screen.
Graphics: 9.5.
Both
graphics and animations are very well done in bright, vivid colors that
will greatly appeal to younger children.
Sound: 9.5.
There
are some great, realistic sound effects in this software and the music
is lively and sure to capture the attention of your younger child.
Difficulty: 3.0.
This
software is very easy to use, requiring basic computer knowledge and simple
mouse controls. The activities start out quite easy and increase
in level each time the child plays so that it will continually challenge
the child as he/she grows. I view this as a real plus that makes
the software value increase.
Concept: 7.5.
Although
there is nothing in particular that is innovative or outstanding, I think
this Hasbro Interactive software is very well done. Your younger
child will have fun using this software and that is what a learning software
is all about.
Multiplayer: N/A
Overall: 9.0.
If
you have a child who is really into Barney and Friends then this learning
software is ideal. Barney on Location: All Around Town offers
a continual challenge which is a plus in itself. The graphics are
bright and colorful, the music greatly appeals to younger children and
the Print Shop activities are great! Both my 3 year old granddaughter
and 6 year old grandson love this software!
I give Barney on Location: All
Around Town two high fives, two thumbs up and the Grandma's Platinum Seal
of Approval!
