Time to start your engines and head to the starting line for the next podrace!
Star Wars Anakin's Speedway offers two gameplay possibilities: building
your own Podrace courses and then racing on them! The four Podracer pilots, Anakin Skywalker, Sebulba, Gasgano and Ben Quadinaros, are
anxiously waiting to see what kind of race track you can build and which of them will be chosen to drive on that course!
The possibilities are endless as you choose from thousands of different
track combinations you can make with your 6 track areas and 28 track pieces on each planet. There are three distinctly different planets to choose
from: Tatoonie, the hot, desert home of Anakin Skywalker, offers courses of sand and rock, filled with canyons and tunnels. Ando Prime, a freezing
cold ice world, makes use of ice tunnels, snowy cliffs and slippery slopes. Baroonda, a swamp world filled with thick jungle twists and turns,
lets you dodge falling branches, dash beneath hissing snakes and dart through waterfalls.
Basic mouse clicks or keyboard shortcuts are used to create tracks and race
on them or to bring up the cute animations scattered about. When you are not racing, you can hang around the Podracers' Hut where you can meet the
four Podracer pilots and view their cool Podracers. Each is hoping you will choose him!
You can really let your hair down in the Jukebox Joint where all the
Podracers and their pit droids go to rock out! You can explore this lively room with your mouse cursor. When you move the cursor over something that
is clickable, it will change from white to red. So click away and enjoy yourself. Oh, and don't forget to click on the same object when you return
again because you will never know just what might happen!
Sooooo...what are you waiting for? Put on your helmet, fasten your
seatbelt and let the fun begin!
NOTE TO PARENTS: Star Wars Anakin's Speedway brings all the fun and
excitement of animated Star Wars characters right into your home and at the same time, teaches even the youngest Star Wars fan the basic learning
concepts of physics. As with all Lucas Learning software, this game will allow your child(ren) to interact with the game and form and expand the
understanding of important concepts. Each child has the freedom to experiment with forces and motion as he/she plays at a level that is
comfortable for him/her. Star Wars Anakin's Speedway is an excellent example of learning software.
Installation is quick and easy with an overview of many of the animated
Star Wars characters.
GAMEPLAY: 9. You can basically use the mouse click for everything; but if
you prefer, extremely easy-to-learn keyboard shortcuts are included in the game manual.
GRAPHICS: 8. Rich, colorful graphics throughout, especially in the lively
animations.
SOUND: 8. Good music, sound effects and speaking voices throughout the
game.
DIFFICULTY: 5. This game is easily played by four-year-olds and up.
CONCEPT: 8. This is a learning software that kids will love to play.
OVERALL: A high 8. The folks at Lucas Learning have once again given us
a learning software that is fun and exciting, as well as educational.
