A Field Trip to the Sea Deluxe introduces students to the diversity of life found in marine environments. Expanded from Sunburst’s original A Field Trip into the Sea, this interactive CD-ROM has new features that provide your students with a comprehensive multimedia research adventure. Through animation, photography, sound and illustrations, students visit rocky shores, coral reefs, the ocean abyss, tide pools and the open sea. Students hone their observation skills, conduct scientific research and present findings.
The content-rich program begins on The Discovery Screen, where students choose an ecosystem to explore. They observe the distinct attributes of the environment and learn how to identify the plants and animals that live there.
Students also access the interactive on-screen Field Guide where they investigate topics such as physical adaptations, relationships among creatures, commercial sea products, and the intriguing world of ocean exploration. Hypertext links support learning by giving students quick access to glossary words and scientific terms.
The Data Table assists in research by providing information on over 50 plants and 140 animals. Students can verify observations and classify and organize facts in this section of the program. Charts and databases can be created to support their research.
In The Journal students take notes and record pictures for their reports. The Search Feature allows students to make explorations throughout the program. A complete word processor is included to make A Field Trip to the Sea a self-contained research program.
